Message from the
Indigenous Patient Navigator
My name is Roberta Manitowabi and I am the Indigenous Patient Navigator at the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. I am Ojibway and a member of the Beausoleil First Nation on beautiful Christian Island. I am committed to the needs of Indigenous patients and the steps necessary to ensuring access to equitable, culturally relevant and trauma-informed health care services. I have gained a great deal of knowledge through training sessions and certifications with Jane Middleton-Moz, a leading expert on the topic of Indigenous trauma. I value and prioritize providing creative and meaningful staff and community education, and work with the SMRCP, the Indigenous Health Circle and Barrie Area Nativee Advisory Circle to prioritize reconciliation efforts with the Indigenous communities in the North Simcoe Muskoka region. Please see my contact information below, and reach out to connect at any time. Miigwech!
