​Patient Experience

RVH is looking for volunteers to enhance the patient experience by greeting and familiarizing patients on non-clinical aspects related to their stay at RVH.  Applicants should be outgoing and have a high level of empathy and compassion towards patients.  Applicants must exhibit RVH’s core vales of:  Work Together, Respect All, Think Big, Own It and Care.

Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP)

The Hospital Elder Life Program is a program of care designed to prevent delirium and functional decline in hospitalized elderly patients. Volunteers provide bedside visits with friendly conversation, assistance with meal set up, range of motion exercises and walking short distances. 

Information and Way Finding

Provide directions, information and way finding to patients and visitors. Assist patients by walking them to their destinations. Applicants must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Retail & Fundraising

Assist our customers in a retail setting in Victoria’s Gift Shop or in a friendly restaurant type environment in Cafe Royale. Applicants should have excellent customer service skills and enjoy a service industry type setting.

Administration

Assist staff with a variety of administrative tasks.  Each area offers a unique role and applicants should be mature, have good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Outpatient and Visitor Support

Volunteers support patients and family members from throughout their visit in Registration, Clinic and Waiting Rooms, at Information Desks and throughout the hospital to provide wayfinding and escorting.  Applicants must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Pet Therapy Program

We welcome certified St. John Ambulance and Therapeutic Paws of Canada (TPOC) Pet Therapy Volunteers.  To have your pet certified, contact St. John Ambulance and TPOC for information.
