Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

About

As a regional level 2C NICU we provide exceptional care for babies who require a higher level of care. We are able to support babies born 30 weeks gestation or greater. Our NICU team at RVH is comprised of neonatologists, paediatricians, specialized trained nurses, socials workers, lactation certified nurses, and respiratory therapists.

Our facility is a referral Centre for the surrounding areas and any newborn that may require care not available at RVH will be referred by the Physician to a level 3 NICU such as The Hospital for Sick Children.

Visiting Hours

In the NICU days and nights look similar to babies, so we welcome Parents/Caregivers (arm banded) to be here anytime 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Visitors can only enter the NICU with an arm banded caregiver between the hours of 8am-8pm. Maximum of 2 people at the bedside at all times.

For Sibling visits please book the cuddle room with our patient service clerk or your nurse.

 

Directions

From the Main Entrance, follow the Blue Navigation Line to the Atrium (Orange) Elevators. Take the elevator to the 4th floor and turn right to get to the NICU.
