Having a family member admitted to the hospital is an overwhelming experience for patients and families. We welcome all your questions and concerns and there are support resources available to meet you and your loved one’s needs. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, we encourage you to speak to a member of your healthcare team or a social worker.

Patient Information
The Cardiac Renal unit is a 32-bed unit comprised of 20 telemetry beds, isolation, private, semi-private and ward beds. The multidisciplinary team consists of physicians, RN’s, RPN’s, pharmacist, social worker, dietitian, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, home and community care and patient service clerks.

Handwashing is required upon entry and exit of the unit.
Anyone with a fever, cough, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea or a communicable disease(like chickenpox/shingles) should not visit our unit.
Please bring all personal care items such as a toothbrush/toothpaste. Good shoes or slippers.
The Cardiac & Renal Inpatient Unit is located on the fourth floor of the health centre. To navigate from the Main entrance:
- Follow the Blue Navigation Line to the Main (Blue) elevators
- Take the elevator to the fourth floor
- Exit the elevator turn left and proceed through the double doors
- The unit will be on your right
Upon discharge you will be given instructions and educational material on the medications that are new to you since being admitted to the hospital.
If you had a procedure such as an angiogram/angioplasty or pacemaker insertion you will receive detailed instructions and educational material for aftercare including activity level, nutrition and dressing care.
