RVH promotes breastfeeding as the best food source for newborns. The Canadian Paediatric Society, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the World Health Organization support this view. Research has identified clear benefits of breastfeeding to both mother and baby.
How you feed your baby is your choice and that choice will be supported by the nurses on the obstetrical unit. If you choose to breastfeed, your nurse will assist you with an emphasis on proper latch, position and health teaching.
Due to Health Canada regulations, breast pump kits will no longer be supplied. Pump kits can be purchased in hospital, please ask your nurse for details.

This service is open to all breastfeeding women and their newborns. Women may book an appointment by calling 705-721-0370 ext. 4.
