RVH Accountability

   RVH declares C. difficile outbreak

On April 27, Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), in consultation with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, declared a ‘suspect outbreak’ of Clostridium difficile (C. difficile). Over the weekend, there were two new nosocomial (hospital-acquired) cases, bringing the total for the month of April to eight cases. As result, RVH has now formally declared a facility-wide C. difficile outbreak.

The safety of patients remains RVH’s top priority and an Action Planning team has convened to put strategies in place to contain the spread of C. difficile.

  It's ours - RVH gets keys to Expansion

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre’s Phase 1 Expansion Project has achieved the most significant milestone to-date – on April 16, the building was officially ‘turned over’ to RVH allowing for a phased-in opening of the 400,000 square foot facility.

   RVH gets the keys to Rotary Place

As progress on Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre’s (RVH) Phase 1 Expansion Project nears completion, an important milestone has been reached – the turnover of Rotary Place to RVH for transitional occupancy.

Named in recognition of a $1.5 million commitment from Rotary Clubs throughout the region, this stand-alone building, adjacent to the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre, is the location for Rotary House -- the lodge for cancer patients – RVH’s Family Medicine Teaching Unit, as well as non-clinical services.

RVH Physician wins Human Touch Award

One of Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre’s (RVH) most dedicated and caring physicians was recognized for his outstanding work in cancer care. Dr. Bryn Pressnail, clinical director, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program, was one of six Ontarians to receive a Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) Human Touch Award.

RVH unveils new visual identity and name

As it prepares to open a facility that is double the size and offer expanded, specialized services for residents throughout Simcoe Muskoka, Royal Victoria Hospital unveiled a new visual identity today, including a new name -- Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, although it will also continue to be referred to by the well-known acronym “RVH”.
