Snow Valley Resort’s 33rd annual MASH BASH in support of patient care at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) was a phenomenal success raising $30,622. Funds from this year’s ‘Epic Winter Party’ will benefit the renovation and expansion of RVH’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Snow Valley Ski Resort generously donates the entire day’s lift ticket proceeds to the health centre and with this year’s amazing turn out the grand total raised over the 33 years is an incredible $570,000.
“Each year more than 2,000 babies are born at RVH and almost 250 of these tiny patients spend some time in our NICU,” says Janice Skot, RVH president and CEO. “For 33 years now our great friends at Snow Valley Ski Resort have held this amazing event to raise funds for the healthcare needs of the people of this region. From our expansion in 2012 to the new regional child and youth mental health program, the team from Snow Valley have been there to ensure we can bring care close to home. We greatly appreciate and value the ongoing support we receive from Snow Valley, our friends in the media who participate and promote the day, the committee members, sponsors and attendees.”
Those in attendance on that winter day will remember the biggest laughs were reserved for participants of the infamous and ever-popular Bedpan Races organized by 101.1 BIG FM and 93.1 FRESH RADIO. The winner of the media/celebrity race was Rob Tomkinson, Promotions Coordinator, for 104.1 The Dock and Pure Country 106 radio stations. This is the third time Tomkinson has taken the coveted bedpan trophy home.
In the mascot race, Lionel from Boston Pizza, slid over the finish line with ease and speed to win. In the Tug of War, CFB Borden took on the joint team of the County of Simcoe Paramedics, Springwater Fire and RVH’s Security Services. The winning team of Simcoe Paramedics, Springwater Fire and RVH Security proudly took the trophy home for the second year.
