Department of Medical Imaging

Ultrasound

An ultrasound examination is a diagnostic medical procedure which uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the organs and soft tissue structures of the body.  Ultrasound aids in the diagnosis and treatment of many medical conditions.

The diagnostic medical sonographer (ultrasound technologist) is not permitted to discuss the findings of any ultrasound exam.  A radiologist will interpret the images and produce a detailed report that will be sent to the ordering physician within one week.

We offer a variety of ultrasound examinations including body, small parts, obstetrical and vascular imaging.  We are proud to be an integral part of our breast health program.  We also offer a number of interventional procedures in our dynamic department.

All of our technologists are registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario.

Please arrive in department 10-15 minutes before your appointment time (for clerical procedure & changing of clothes)
