RVH’s Regional Pandemic Response Unit (PRU) is approximately 70-bed, 8,000 square-foot modular structure is located in the volunteer/visitor parking lot outside RVH’s lower Simcoe entrance. An enclosed walkway will provide quick and protected access to the health centre.

This temporary unit is a fully-functional, four-season field hospital, professionally staffed and equipped to deliver safe, quality care and will be a regional asset if required.

PRU Tour

Since opening in November 2020, the 70-bed field hospital has provided important additional capacity to the region’s hospitals in Simcoe Muskoka. The PRU was built in preparation for a potential second wave of COVID-19 cases, and ensure patients from across the region continue to have access to safe, high-quality care.
