The Interprofessional Practice Department plays an essential role in Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre’s mission of Exceptional care is our passion, People are our inspiration and Safety is our promise . Our Inter-Professional Department consists of Nursing, Speech and Language Pathology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Res​piratory Therapy, and Physiotherapy professionals that are focused on driving evidence informed best practice for high quality patient and family centered care.

Interprofessional Orientation 

 

The orientation program for new clinical staff members has been developed to incorporate an interprofessional approach to education. The Interprofessional Orientation, which is 5 days in length, is available to new clinical staff members of all disciplines. A sixth day is dedicated to a Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care. Current staff members may also attend specific sessions to address their individual learning needs. Interprofessional Orientation follows General Hospital Orientation. The sessions include:

Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse Lab Specimen Collection
Expected Date of Discharge and Patient Flow Care related to Central Vascular Access Devices
Diabetes Care Peripheral IV Initiation

Registered Nurses' Association Best Practice Spotlight Organization

 

RANOSpotlight.jpgRVH has proudly been designated as a Registered Nurses’ Association Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) since 2006.

An objective of being a Best Practice Spotlight Organization is to, through partnerships, make an impact on patient care through evidence-based nursing practice. RVH has implemented 16 Best Practice Guidelines. These guidelines are clinical resources that provide information regarding evidence-based practices for nurses and the interprofessional team.
